Srinagar, November 2, 2024: Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander from Pakistan, Usman Bhai was killed in an encounter in the Khanyar area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar city on Saturday. Four security personnel, including two police officers, sustained various injuries during the exchange of gunfire.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi confirmed that the most wanted LeT commander, Usman Bhai, was killed in a day-long fierce gunfight in Khanyar.
Usman was wanted in multiple militancy-related cases, including the killings of non-locals and security forces. He was also involved in the killing of Inspector Manzoor, the officer added.
Earlier, a joint team approached the suspected area, where hiding militants opened fire on them, leading to the encounter.
As of the time this report was filed, operations in the area were ongoing.
