New Delhi, 24 October, 2024: A man was killed after being trapped inside a Fortuner that caught fire near Kot Pul Nagla in the Dadri police station area of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, according to police.

Authorities suspect foul play, as the vehicle was found 100 meters inside a forest, and investigators believe the fire may have been intentionally set.

The deceased, identified as Sanjay Yadav, a resident of Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad, was discovered in the charred remains of the vehicle on Wednesday night. Locals who first spotted the blaze attempted to rescue Yadav but were unable to free him before the fire consumed the car. They immediately informed the police, who arrived quickly alongside fire tenders.

“The Fortuner was found in a burnt condition with a person inside,” said Greater Noida ADCP Ashok Kumar. “Senior officials arrived on the scene, and a forensic team was called in. The deceased was identified as Sanjay Yadav, and it was revealed during questioning that he had gone out with two friends and was allegedly involved in a dispute over jewelry.”

Yadav’s family has filed a complaint at Dadri police station, and his body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Police have taken two suspects into custody, and legal action will follow the investigation.

Kumar added, “We are looking into all possible angles, and forensic teams are thoroughly inspecting the crime scene.” Further inquiries are ongoing as authorities explore the possibility of murder, with both suspects currently under interrogation.
