Chandigarh, 20 February 2025— A special NDPS court sentenced a Burail resident to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a ₹1 lakh fine for possessing 25 vials of buprenorphine.
Anil Kumar Atwal was caught on June 21, 2019, by a police patrol near his house. A case was registered at the Sector 34 police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The court noted that the seized vials constituted a commercial quantity. While the final judgment was yet to be uploaded, the sentencing was pronounced on Tuesday.
