Man With 14 FIRs Held for Snatching Woman’s Gold Chain

Chandigarh: A 30-year-old man from Behlana village, Satnam Singh, has been arrested for allegedly snatching a gold chain from a woman in Sector 22-B. Singh, who has 14 other FIRs registered against him across Chandigarh and Punjab from 2010 to 2017, was apprehended following the incident last month.

The victim, Ujala, reported that the snatching occurred while she was returning home from her morning walk at Nehru Park.

She described how an unidentified man grabbed her gold chain, weighing about one tola, and fled on a motorcycle towards the Sector 22 civil hospital.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Singh near the beat box in Behlana village on October 3. They subsequently recovered the stolen gold chain and the motorcycle used in the crime from his possession.

Singh was presented in court, where he was initially granted a day’s police remand, which was later extended by two more days. Police stated that Singh has been engaged in criminal activities for over a decade.
