Chandigarh, Dec 3: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday projected the state as a leading investment hub during a series of meetings with top Japanese business leaders in Tokyo.

On the first day of his Japan visit, Mann held discussions with representatives of JBIC, Aisan Industry, Yamaha, Honda Motor, Toray Industries, Fujitsu Ltd, officials from JICA’s South Asia department and Japan’s parliamentary vice-minister of economy, trade and industry.

He urged them to explore strategic partnerships with Punjab in advanced manufacturing, mobility, electronics, food processing, renewable energy and global services.

Mann invited the companies to participate in the 6th Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit scheduled from March 13 to 15 next year at the ISB Mohali campus, assuring them full support from the state government. He said the summit would acme Punjab’s growth, bring global investors together and open new avenues for collaboration.

Calling Punjab a land of resilience, entrepreneurship and a strong community spirit, Mann said the state had played a crucial role in making India self-reliant in food production.

During his visit, he also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Edogawa Gandhi Park in Tokyo, saying Gandhi remained the only global leader who won freedom through the path of non-violence.
