Chandigarh, April 13: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday lashed out at Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa over his recent claim that 50 bombs had landed in Punjab, demanding the Congress leader reveal his source or face consequences.
“What is the source of this information?” Mann asked. “If Bajwa had received this information, does he have any connection with Pakistan that terrorists there are calling and telling him directly how many bombs they have sent?”
Mann stated that neither state intelligence nor the Union Government had any such input. “If this information came to the Leader of Opposition, then it was his responsibility to immediately inform the Punjab Police,” he said.
Following Bajwa’s remarks made during a television interview, a team from the state Intelligence Bureau visited his residence in Chandigarh’s Sector 8 on Sunday morning to record his statement.
While confirming his cooperation with police, Bajwa declined to disclose the source of his information. He instead dared the Chief Minister to register a case against him, calling the probe politically motivated.
“This is nothing but political vendetta. As Home Minister, Mann has failed to maintain law and order. I have my own sources in both state and central agencies, who have even warned me that I could be a target,” Bajwa said.
Responding sharply, Mann accused Bajwa of inciting fear and aiding anti-national narratives. “Was he waiting for the bombs to explode and people to die, just so his politics could continue?” Mann asked.
“If this is a lie, he is spreading terror. And if it’s true, he must name the sources. The Congress must take a stand—either distance itself from such claims or admit it supports those working against the country,” the CM added.
