Maxwell’s ODI career started in 2012. Representing Australia in 149 ODIs, the legendary player scored a total of 3990 runs and took 77 wickets while bowling at an economy of 5.46. He was also part of the 2015 and 2023 World Cup-winning team. Maxwell has four centuries and 23 half-centuries to his name in this format.

The 36-year-old played an unbeaten innings of 201 against Afghanistan during the 2023 World Cup. This was one of the best innings of his career in this format. He has also proved to be a problem for the opposition batsmen in bowling. He took four wickets in an innings four times. He also unmatched others in fielding . He has 91 catches to his name in this format.
What did Maxwell say on the decision to retire?
Talking about the decision to retire, Maxwell said- ‘I remember that in the beginning I was selected prematurely and unexpectedly. I am proud to play some matches for Australia. I thought I would do the same. Since then I have gone through ups and downs, like being out of the team, coming back, playing in some World Cups and being part of some great teams.’

Maxwell was last seen playing in this format in the Champions Trophy. During this time he could not show anything special. At the same time, he was also out of IPL 2025 after a few matches due to injury.
