Chandigarh, November 8 — Authorities in Jalandhar district have ordered a complete closure of meat and liquor shops on November 12 in light of the Nagar Kirtan processions marking Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. District Magistrate Dr. Himanshu has mandated strict enforcement of the directive.
The district administration cited the ban on meat and liquor sales as a measure to respect the religious sentiments associated with the event. Various religious organizations will be participating in the Nagar Kirtan, which is expected to draw large crowds.
Additionally, Dr. Himanshu has declared a half-day holiday on November 12 for the occasion. All government and private schools, as well as colleges, will close after noon to ensure the safety of students during the procession.
