Minimum temperatures stay above normal in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Jan 2: Minimum temperatures across Punjab and Haryana remained above the seasonal average on Friday, even as fog reduced visibility at several places, according to the local meteorological department.

Narnaul in Haryana recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the region at 4.5 degrees Celsius.

In Haryana, Ambala registered a low of 10.4 degrees Celsius, around four degrees above normal. Hisar recorded a minimum of 12.4 degrees Celsius, six degrees above average, while Karnal saw a low of 10.4 degrees Celsius, also four notches above normal.

Rohtak recorded a minimum temperature of 10.8 degrees Celsius. Bhiwani and Sirsa reported lows of 5.5 degrees Celsius and 10.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a minimum temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum of 8.8 degrees Celsius, five degrees above the seasonal average. Ludhiana saw a low of 10.4 degrees Celsius, also five degrees above normal, while Patiala recorded 11.2 degrees Celsius, around four degrees above average.

Pathankot recorded a minimum of 8.8 degrees Celsius, Bathinda 11 degrees Celsius, Faridkot 10 degrees Celsius, Gurdaspur 7 degrees Celsius and SBS Nagar 6.7 degrees Celsius, the weather office said.
