Mansa, March 18: A minor girl from Bachhoana village in the Budhlada area was seriously injured after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs on Tuesday. The victim, a Class III student, had accompanied her grandmother to the fields when the incident occurred. The girl sustained multiple bite wounds across her head, arms, legs, thighs, and back. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was initially rushed to the Civil Hospital in Budhlada before being referred to a specialized facility in Patiala for advanced treatment.

Eyewitnesses affirmed that the attack was sudden and violent, only ending when nearby residents heard the girl’s cries and rushed to the spot to scare the dogs away. Local residents maintained that the victim was left in a critical state following the encounter. This incident follows a similar case from last month in Bhagu village, Bathinda, where an eight-year-old girl suffered approximately 40 bite wounds in a brutal stray dog assault.

The community declared that the menace of stray dogs has been increasing at an alarming rate across the region. Residents asserted that while several people have already fallen victim to such attacks, the administration has yet to take any concrete action to address the problem. They maintained that the lack of a stray dog management policy is putting the lives of children and the elderly at constant risk.
