Moga, April 9: Moga police on Thursday attached properties valued at over ₹2.2 crore belonging to three convicted smugglers. The seizure, conducted under Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, follows investigations confirming that the assets were acquired through illegal narcotics proceeds.

The primary action targeted Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy, and Gagandip Singh, both of whom were apprehended in 2025. Law enforcement officials had previously recovered over one kilogram of opium and hundreds of narcotic tablets from the duo. Their combined assets, estimated at approximately ₹1.79 crore, have now been frozen following approval from the Union Finance Department’s competent authority.

In a concurrent enforcement action, authorities attached the property of Lakhwira Singh, alias Lav, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence. His seized assets, which include residential land, a house, and a sedan, are valued at roughly ₹41.5 lakh. Singh’s conviction stems from a 2023 case involving the recovery of heroin and prohibited tablets.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Gandhi stated that the department is focused on dismantling the economic networks that sustain drug trafficking. “The attachment of these properties ensures that the financial gains from criminal activities are stripped away from the offenders,” Gandhi affirmed. Officials maintained that such measures are essential to deterring organized crime and enhancing regional security
