Bathinda, 5 February 2025: A man facing multiple criminal cases, including murder, was shot dead by his neighbor in Bhai Rupa village, around 50 km from Bathinda, following a dispute over CCTV cameras, police said Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Narinder Singh identified the deceased as Satnam Singh, alias Satti, who had been booked in six criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, and violations of the Arms Act. He was shot Tuesday night by his neighbor, Gurtej Chand, who is currently absconding.
According to the initial investigation, Gurtej had recently installed CCTV cameras at his house. Satti objected, claiming they violated his privacy.
“The two got into an argument Tuesday night, which escalated into a gunfight. Satti suffered gunshot injuries,” the SP said, adding that it remains unclear whether Gurtej was also injured, as he fled immediately after the shooting.
Satti, in his 40s, succumbed to his injuries Wednesday morning. Police have formed teams to locate and arrest Gurtej.
