Indore, March 27: A 32-year-old female software engineer died on Thursday from injuries sustained when a man and his son reportedly drove their vehicle into a crowd of protesters in Indore. The incident occurred late Wednesday night following a confrontation over the commercial use of a residential penthouse. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya stated that the deceased, Shampa Pathak Pandey, suffered a brain haemorrhage and severe head trauma during the assault.
The dispute began around 10:30 p.m. within the Lasudia police station limits when residents gathered to protest against Kuldeep Chaudhary, 42, and his son Mohit, 18. Neighbors asserted that the duo was illegally using their penthouse for short-term commercial rentals. During the ensuing argument, the accused reportedly accelerated their car into the group at high speed, striking one woman before running over Pandey.
Pandey, a mother of two who was employed by a prominent Bengaluru-based IT services firm, was rushed to Bombay Hospital but succumbed to her injuries the following day. Another woman involved in the collision remains under medical care for critical injuries. The entire sequence of events was recorded by CCTV cameras installed within the building premises.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that both Kuldeep and Mohit Chaudhary were taken into custody on Thursday. Dandotiya maintained that both individuals have been booked on murder charges as the investigation continues. Authorities affirmed that the vehicle involved has been seized as part of the ongoing probe into the violent escalation of the property dispute.
