Amritsar, Jan 15: President Draupadi Murmu visited the holy city of Amritsar on Thursday, describing it as a center of cultural and spiritual significance for India. While addressing the convocation at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), the President said that the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev provide a timeless framework for addressing modern social challenges.
The President noted that the principles of “Naam jappo, kirt karo, vand chhako” serve as a mantra for social harmony. She mentioned that practicing these ideals can offer a direct solution to the majority of problems currently facing society.
“Just moving forward is not courage. Taking the ones who are lagging behind, during one’s journey ahead, is courage,” President Murmu said during her address to the graduates.
Turning her attention to the state’s struggle with narcotics, the President called for a collective effort to steer the younger generation toward a healthier path. She noted that an absolute solution to drug abuse can only be achieved when youth connect with one another and when education remains both inclusive and accessible.
