Ludhiana: A domestic worker and two children were severely injured after a mysterious explosion occurred in a house in Ludhiana’s Model Town Extension on Saturday evening.
All three victims were rushed to a nearby private hospital. The maid’s condition is reported to be critical, while the children are also receiving treatment.
The police are currently investigating the cause of the blast, an official said.
The incident took place around 6 pm at the residence of a businessman, who was in Delhi for medical treatment.
According to reports, at the time of the explosion, a 12-year-old boy, the owner’s four-year-old son Pawan, and the domestic help were in the house. A loud blast was followed by smoke rising from the first floor, alerting neighbors.
Upon entering the house, they found debris near the staircase, where a door had collapsed, injuring the children and the housemaid.
ASI Ravinder Kumar, in charge of the Atam Nagar police post, confirmed that the cause of the explosion remains unknown.
“We cannot yet confirm if it was caused by a gas cylinder, air conditioner compressor, pressure cooker, or mobile phone. The matter is under investigation, and we will have clear details after a thorough inquiry,” he said.
