CHANDIGARH: Head of the Nanaksar Sect, Baba Lakha Singh Ji, met with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to commend the Punjab Government for passing the ‘Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026’.
During the meeting in Chandigarh, Baba Lakha Singh honored the Chief Minister with a Siropa from Guru Ghar, stating that the legislation addresses long-standing concerns of the Sikh community regarding incidents of desecration. He asserted that strengthening legal deterrents against beadbi reflects a meaningful commitment toward protecting the honor, dignity, and sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Chief Minister Mann expressed gratitude for the blessings and stated that upholding the reverence and maryada of Shabad Guru Sahib remains the primary responsibility of the state government. He affirmed that harsher penal provisions enacted under the new law aim to ensure such crimes are prevented entirely in the future.
The Chief Minister maintained that his administration remains dedicated to following the teachings of the Sikh Gurus to foster social harmony, maintain public peace, and advance the overall progress of the state.
