Chandigarh, Dec 14: Suspended Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu has sought security from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while accusing his government of protecting the liquor and mining mafia and remaining silent on issues she raised before the governor.

In a post on X on Friday, Navjot said she feared for her safety and held the chief minister responsible. “CM Bhagwant Mann ji, I think I need some security now, or else you will be responsible,” she wrote. She also questioned the government’s response to the concerns she had flagged before Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.

“Why is there no response from your side on the issues raised before the honourable Governor of Punjab? Why are you facilitating the liquor and mining mafia?” she asked.

Navjot had recently submitted a representation to the governor, raising issues including alleged encroachments in the Shivalik Hills.

Reacting to her demand on Saturday, Mann questioned her conduct. “Why does she first give such statements? First they fight among themselves and then she is asking me for security,” the chief minister told reporters.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, was suspended from the Congress following her controversial remark claiming “Rs 500 crore” was demanded for the chief minister’s post.
