Newly Elected Panchayats Meet MLA Kulwant Singh

SAS Nagar, October 17, 2024: Following the general panchayat elections held across Punjab on October 15, the newly elected panchayat representatives (sarpanches and panches) of Vidhan Sabha Constituency SAS Nagar have begun meeting with their constituency MLA, Kulwant Singh, to express their gratitude. The elections were largely peaceful, and many representatives were chosen unanimously.

On October 16, panchayats from 17 villages met with MLA Kulwant Singh, and today, representatives from 18 more villages, including Kandala, Suneta, Lucknow, Raipur, Ballo Majra, Barmajra, Tangauri, Kambala, Green Enclave, Chappadachari Khurd, Bhagomajra, Manakpur Kallar, Safipur, Chachu Majra, Dhurali, Nanu Majra, Sekhan Majra, and Maujpur, came to thank the MLA for ensuring fair and peaceful elections.

MLA Kulwant Singh shared that the elections took place in 70 of the 73 villages under his constituency, out of which 11 panchayats were elected unanimously. Additionally, sarpanches in 4 villages and 191 panches out of a total of 471 were elected without opposition. Kulwant Singh also noted that 63 of the newly elected panchayats align with the ideology and policies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

While congratulating the successful candidates, MLA Kulwant Singh expressed his appreciation for the voters and citizens who helped maintain peace during the election process. He urged the sarpanches and panches to prioritize the development of their villages, emphasizing that elected leaders should work for the welfare of the entire community, regardless of political affiliation.

“The sarpanch is not just for one party but for the whole village. The development of the village should be impartial, and funds should be used for projects that benefit the public interest. This will not only ensure progress but also strengthen community bonds,” he added.

MLA Kulwant Singh emphasized the importance of providing maximum basic amenities to villagers and encouraged collaborative efforts for the betterment of the constituency.
