Notice Issued to SGPC President Over Remarks Against Bibi Jagir Kaur

Amritsar, 14 December 2024: Punjab Women’s Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill has issued a notice to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami, demanding a response within four days over alleged abusive language directed at Bibi Jagir Kaur.

At a press conference in Chandigarh today, Gill criticized Dhami’s behavior, stating that mere apologies were insufficient. She urged the SGPC to remove Dhami from his post, emphasizing that his remarks undermined the respect for women upheld by Sikh Gurus.

The controversy follows Dhami’s alleged abusive remarks made yesterday, prompting widespread criticism and this formal action by the Women’s Commission.
