Panchkula, 10 February 2025: A motorcyclist’s pillion rider died after their vehicle collided with a Mahindra Thar near Chandimandir Toll Plaza in Panchkula around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
According to Gurvinder Singh, a resident of Chandimandir, he and his friend Lakhbir Singh were returning from Pinjore when the accident occurred.
Gurvinder, who was riding the motorcycle, stated that the SUV ahead of them braked abruptly without warning.
Unable to stop in time, their motorcycle crashed into the vehicle. The impact threw both riders in opposite directions, leaving Lakhbir with critical injuries.
A passerby and the Thar driver took the victims to Sector-6 Civil Hospital in Panchkula. Lakhbir, however, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Based on Gurvinder’s statement and medical reports, Chandimandir police registered an FIR against the SUV driver under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
