Chandigarh, Feb 14: Chandigarh law enforcement has initiated a strict regulatory drive against noise violations to assist students appearing for various examinations. In a meeting held Thursday, the police department briefed representatives from the hospitality and entertainment sectors on the mandatory adherence to noise norms.
The primary focus of the session was the regulation of sound systems in both public and private venues. Officials mentioned that the 10 p.m. deadline for loud music remains a critical priority to prevent disturbances in neighborhood settings.
“Special care must be taken during the exam period to avoid noise pollution,” the SSP noted during the interaction with banquet hall and club owners.
The police directly said that those failing to follow the prescribed sound levels or operating without prior permits would face immediate legal consequences. This accountability extends to the individual DJ operators as well as the managers of the hosting venues.
Furthermore, the police department has advised all event planners to be particularly mindful of their proximity to schools and coaching centers. The directive comes as part of a broader effort to maintain silence zones during the high-stakes academic season.
