Jalandhar, Dec. 26 – A violent encounter adhered on the Jamsher Jandiala Road as an associate of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang opened fire on the Jalandhar Police during a weapon recovery operation. The gangster was injured in retaliatory fire by the police and later admitted to the hospital, officials reported.
According to the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, the incident occurred after they arrested Manjit, a constable-turned-associate of the Bhagwanpuria gang, in connection with an illegal arms recovery case. During interrogation, Manjit revealed that weapons were hidden on Jamsher Jandiala Road.
When the police escorted him to the location for recovery, the gangster retrieved a hidden weapon and began firing at them. Acting in self-defense, the police retaliated, injuring him.
Law enforcement recovered several weapons, ammunition, and coins from the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused has a history of cases involving the illegal possession of weapons.
Authorities have tightened security at the hospital where the gangster is undergoing treatment. Further investigation is underway to uncover the extent of his connections with the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang.
