Kapurthala, August 28: Kapurthala police exhumed the body of twenty-five-year-old Amandeep Singh today after investigations into his disappearance led authorities to a shallow grave in local farmland. The victim had been missing from Desal village since August fourteenth, prompting law enforcement to open a formal case against his acquaintances following a complaint from his family.

Police personnel initiated exhumation procedures after detained suspects disclosed the burial location during preliminary questioning.

Sub-Inspector Dilbag Singh of the Fattudhinga police station affirmed that officers detained and interrogated the suspects based on initial findings, leading to the identification of an additional accomplice in the case.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the victim was last seen leaving his home with acquaintances before his phone records confirmed final communications with the group. Authorities registered charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita covering kidnapping and destruction of evidence.

Sultanpur Lodhi Deputy Superintendent of Police Dheerendra Verma declared that the suspects admitted to administering substances prior to the victim’s death and subsequent burial.

The senior officer maintained that while suspect statements indicate a potential overdose during the August fourteenth incident, official confirmation regarding the precise cause of death remains dependent on pending post-mortem results.

The recovered remains have been transferred to the Kapurthala Civil Hospital for formal forensic examination as police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
