Amritsar, August 28: Punjab Police intercepted two independent smuggling operations in Amritsar, arresting six individuals and seizing nearly three kilograms of heroin along with eight high-end pistols. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced in an official briefing that joint operations conducted by the State Special Operation Cell and Counter Intelligence units successfully disrupted the illicit distribution networks.
The tactical operations targeted cross-border networks utilizing unmanned aerial vehicles to drop arms and narcotics into border zones for regional distribution.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav declared that specialized security teams apprehended the six operatives while recovering two point nine two kilograms of heroin alongside eight firearms during targeted raids.
Preliminary inquiries established that the arrested individuals managed distribution channels supplying criminal groups across the state with drone-dropped shipments.
State authorities registered formal cases at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar to facilitate further legal action.
Gaurav Yadav affirmed that investigative teams are actively tracing forward and backward linkages to uncover all domestic and international associates tied to the smuggling ring.
The state’s top police official maintained that enforcement agencies will continue strict vigilance along border corridors to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against illegal weapons trafficking and narcotics syndicates.
