Police Launches QR Code for Instant Cyber Fraud

Chandigarh, 10 December 2024: With rising cases of cyber fraud in Punjab, authorities have introduced a faster complaint mechanism to curb financial losses.

Posters featuring a QR code and the helpline number 1930 have been installed in public areas and police stations across districts. Victims of cyber fraud can now immediately scan the QR code or call the helpline to register their complaints, eliminating the need to visit police stations.

Inspector Jatinder Singh, SHO of the Cyber Police Station, stated that the initiative, guided by Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal and DCP Jaskiranjit Singh Teja, aims to accelerate response times. Delayed complaints often hinder recovery and investigation efforts.

These posters direct victims to a cybercrime website, enabling quick action. Singh also highlighted ongoing awareness campaigns to educate people about cyber fraud, though many continue falling prey. Authorities hope this system will streamline complaint registration and improve investigation outcomes.
