by chahat sikri

Chandigarh, May 23: A dispute has started between the owners of the Punjab Kings team. Preity Zinta, the co-owner of the team, has reached the court. She has filed a legal case in a court in Chandigarh against the team’s co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia. This matter has come to light at a time when the team is in excellent form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings have qualified for the playoffs. They have 17 points from 12 matches and are third in the IPL 2025 points table. Punjab Kings still have two matches left.

Preity Zinta Challenges Special General Meeting

The petition filed by Preity Zinta has challenged the validity of the special general meeting held on April 21. It is alleged that the other co-directors of the team held the meeting in violation of the rules. Bollywood stars Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia are directors of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited. The same company owns Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise PBKS (Punjab Kings).

According to a report by news agency IANS, She has said that due procedures under the Companies Act, 2013 and other secretariat rules were not followed in the EGM (Special General Meeting) held on April 21. Actress and businesswoman Preity Zinta has claimed that she had objected to the meeting through an email on April 10, but the message was ignored. She alleged that Mohit Burman had organised the meeting with the support of Ness Wadia.

Opposition to Munish Khanna’s Appointment

Although Preity Zinta and fellow director Karan Paul were present at the meeting, they have filed a petition in the court to declare it illegal. One of the issues raised is the appointment of Munish Khanna as a director. This is a move that both Preity Zinta and Karan Paul opposed.

Preity Zinta, in her petition, has sought to restrain Munish Khanna from acting as a director and to restrain the company from implementing any decision taken during that meeting. She has also requested the court to restrain the company from holding any further board or general meetings unless both she and Karan Paul are present and to keep Munish Khanna out until the matter is resolved.
