PRTC Contract Workers to Halt Bus Services on June 19 Over Salary Delay

Chandigarh, June 18: Commuters in Punjab are expected to face major travel disruptions on June 19 as the Punjab Roadways/Punbus/PRTC Contract Workers Union has announced a one-day strike in protest over pending salaries.

Union state president Resham Singh Gill said the government had “completely failed” to ensure timely payments to contractual employees, whose salaries for June are still unpaid. “It has become difficult for families of employees to survive. We will hold a statewide dharna and keep all PRTC bus stands closed on June 19,” he said.

The union has called on the government to resolve the issue immediately or face escalated protests in the coming days.
