Chandigarh, March 26 — The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday approved the Supplementary Grants for Expenditure and Appropriation Bill, 2025, reallocating ₹25,332 crore to cover the actual expenditure of the 2023-2024 financial year against the previous year’s budget estimates.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, who introduced the bill, said the funds were directed toward the state’s overall development, including road, hospital, and bridge upgrades.

He added that payments to sugarcane farmers, crop residue management machines, and police infrastructure projects were also covered.

“The government is committed to strengthening infrastructure and supporting farmers, which is why substantial investments have been made,” Cheema said.
