Sangrur, Oct 8: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday mounted a sharp attack on the BJP following 12-hour Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raids across the state, asserting that the searching teams left empty-handed. Speaking to media persons in Sangrur, Mann stated that the agency itself documented finding no incriminating material during the widespread operation.
The Chief Minister described the raids as a politically motivated attempt to intimidate his administration and defame his family ahead of upcoming state elections. Mann pointed to a broader pattern, alleging that central investigative agencies are routinely deployed against political opponents in states like Delhi, Jharkhand, and West Bengal whenever assembly polls approach. He maintained that his government’s integrity remains unblemished and affirmed that Punjabis would not yield to pressure or political arm-twisting.
Dismissing any political challenge in the state, Mann asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party remains focused on public welfare, highlighting governance achievements in canal water expansion and agricultural productivity. He urged the BJP to apologize to the people of Punjab for attempting to undermine an elected government, declaring that voters would give a fitting response to central high-handedness in the 2027 Assembly elections.
