CHANDIGARH, July 17 — The state administration has voiced serious concern over the growing mechanical issues reported by vehicle owners nationwide following the implementation of E20 blended fuel. Seeking immediate intervention from the Union Government, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday lent full support to a national public campaign initiated by Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal. The initiative seeks to address mounting consumer complaints regarding declining mileage, accelerated wear, and potential engine vulnerabilities associated with the mandatory high-ethanol blend.
The state leadership asserted that the current distribution model lacks basic consumer flexibility, leaving motorist populations with no alternative but to purchase blended fuel at standard prices. The administration maintained that a fair market approach would introduce clear choices for the public while adjusting fuel costs to match energy output differences.
“People should have the freedom to choose between pure petrol and E20 petrol,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared during a public broadcast. “Second, the price of E20 petrol should be reduced immediately. Every single signature is important to ensure that the people’s voice reaches the Centre.”
National evaluations conducted by party representatives at local repair centers reportedly revealed a rising influx of fuel-system damages, highlighting deep public anxiety over vehicle longevity. According to state officials, the uniform pricing structure currently applied to both fuel types disproportionately benefits large distribution corporations while transferring high maintenance risks onto the shoulders of ordinary commuters.
“From motorcycles to other vehicles, people across the country are facing problems with their vehicles due to E20 petrol,” the Chief Minister stated. He affirmed that the digital public drive is essential to demonstrate the scale of the issue directly to the Prime Minister’s office.
The state executive urged citizens from all walks of life to register their technical grievances via the designated public petition platform to help build a constructive dialogue with central oil ministries. Administrative representatives maintained that addressing these automotive concerns promptly is crucial for ensuring economic stability and preserving the value of personal transport assets owned by working families.
