Fazilka, 02 November 2024: To curb illegal fertilizer practices, the Punjab government has intensified its crackdown on black market activities, hoarding, and unnecessary chemical tagging in fertilizers, including di-ammonium phosphate (DAP).
To support this, helpline numbers have been provided for farmers to report any dealer involved in these malpractices, according to reports.
Farmers can report issues such as overpricing, illegal stockpiling, or forced purchase of non-essential chemicals with DAP.
MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna informed that complaints can be lodged by calling the helpline number 1100 or via WhatsApp at +91-98555-01076.
The government has issued a strict warning that any dealer found engaging in these practices will face legal action under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, and the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
Agricultural experts from Punjab Agricultural University are encouraging farmers to consider alternatives like NPK fertilizers, Triple Super Phosphate (TSP), and Single Super Phosphate (SSP) to fulfill their phosphorus needs.
The Agriculture Department recently shared data from a quality control campaign conducted from April 1 to October 31, 2024. During this period, 2,063 pesticide samples were tested, leading to the cancellation of licenses for 43 suppliers found involved in improper branding.
