Chandigarh, Sept 28: Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Sunday launched a toll-free helpline to enable citizens to report organised crime, including intimidation, extortion, and gangster-related activities, anonymously. The helpline, 1800-330-1100, has been activated by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police to provide the public with a direct and confidential channel to assist law enforcement.

During the launch, Yadav personally made a trial call to test the system and interact with a representative, ensuring the helpline functions effectively. In a video message to the public, he assured that all information received would be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and that the identities of callers would remain protected.

“Save this number, report any incidents of organised crime without fear or hesitation, and join the state police in its mission to build a safer Punjab,” Yadav said. He stressed that the helpline is a “powerful tool for the public to directly assist the police,” adding that reports will trigger immediate and coordinated action.

The DGP noted that the centrally monitored helpline will operate under the direct supervision of Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Promod Ban, ensuring prompt follow-up on every lead. He further explained that the infrastructure of the 112 helpline is being leveraged to ensure smooth operations, but calls to 1800-330-1100 will be independently handled by specialised AGTF officers, who will liaise with concerned districts if required.

With this initiative, Punjab Police aims to strengthen citizen participation in combating organised crime while maintaining strict confidentiality for those who come forward.
