Chandigarh, December 4, 2024 – The Punjab government has released ₹92 crore for government institutions under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste (SC) students for the 2024-25 financial year.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced the allocation, accentuating the government’s commitment to supporting SC students’ education. She noted that ₹366 crore had already been disbursed during 2023-24 to clear arrears from 2017-2020. The newly released funds will address current outstanding dues.

Dr. Kaur stated that the scheme will cover education expenses for SC students enrolled in Punjab’s government institutions or other states’ institutions. She emphasized that these funds would ensure students can continue their studies without financial barriers.

The responsibility for distributing the funds and ensuring their proper utilization lies with the management department, which will oversee the payment process.

Dr. Kaur reiterated the government’s dedication to education as a tool for social change, ensuring no student is forced to drop out due to financial constraints.
