GUWAHATI, May 12 — Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria attended the oath-taking ceremony of Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Chief Minister of Assam on Tuesday. The event, held at the Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara, was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other national dignitaries.

Shri Kataria extended his congratulations to Shri Sarma on beginning his second consecutive term as Chief Minister. The Governor stated that he is confident Assam will continue to reach new developmental milestones and maintain its focus on public welfare under the current leadership. He noted that the region has become a significant center for national growth in recent years.

The Governor’s presence at the ceremony shows a continued professional connection, as Shri Kataria previously served as the Governor of Assam. During that tenure, he worked closely with the state administration on various governance initiatives. He affirmed that the progress in infrastructure and connectivity witnessed in the North-East is a testament to the effective coordination between state and central authorities.

“Assam has witnessed remarkable progress in infrastructure, connectivity, and tourism,” Shri Kataria declared.
