Jalalabad (Fazilka), November 5, 2024: On the second day of his four-day visit to Punjab’s border districts, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria arrived in Fazilka, where he praised the efforts of village security committees established in six border districts.

Addressing the village security committee members in Jodha Bhaini, a village near the India-Pakistan border, Kataria acknowledged the committees’ role in fostering public awareness and urged them to remain vigilant against anti-national forces.

“The neighboring country cannot face India directly, so it resorts to illicit methods like using drones to smuggle drugs,” Governor Kataria said.

He emphasized the importance of these committees in reporting suspicious activities to both police and army officials, underscoring that informants will be honored for their contributions to security.

To strengthen communication, each committee will maintain direct contact with the Raj Bhavan, enhancing understanding of the unique challenges and needs in border areas.

Additionally, a nodal officer will be assigned to each committee to improve coordination between residents and authorities. Kataria encouraged regular committee meetings, advising that gatherings should be held monthly to ensure active engagement and responsiveness.

The Governor also called on society to come together to counter the menace of drug trafficking, stressing collective effort as the most effective approach.

Joining him at the event were Jalalabad MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldi and Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar, who echoed Kataria’s sentiments.

Committee members took the opportunity to share their perspectives and concerns directly with the Governor.
