Firing Causes Chaos on Nandankanan Express En Route to Delhi

Chandigarh, November 5, 2024: A firing incident aboard the Nandankanan Express (train number 12815), traveling from Puri in Odisha to Delhi, sparked panic among passengers near Bhadrak. The firing reportedly shattered a toilet mirror, leading to immediate concern and confusion.

Upon receiving the report, local police quickly launched an investigation. SK Bahinipati, in charge of the Puri Government Railway Police (GRP), confirmed that they were alerted to the incident around 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, shortly after the train passed Bhadrak. “As soon as we received the information, GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel escorted the train to ensure passenger safety,” Bahinipati said.

Four teams, including RPF and local police units, are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause and ensure no further risks to travelers. Railway and police officials arrived at the scene promptly to assess the situation and reassure passengers.
