Punjab Govt Calls Special Vidhan Sabha Session on Feb 24-25

CHANDIGARH, 13 February 2025– The Punjab government has announced a special session of the Vidhan Sabha on February 24 and 25, potentially delaying the budget session.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, addressing the media after a Punjab Cabinet meeting, confirmed that the budget session will be held in March due to pending government work.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has already discussed the matter with his Cabinet, as the session must be convened before March 3.

The Cabinet also approved several decisions, including recruiting 2,000 PTI teachers, 822 health department staff, 53 excise and taxation officials, and 13 doctors, with special provisions for sports medicine. Additionally, six courts will be set up to handle NRI cases.

In another move, the government has increased the honorarium of rural chowkidars by ₹250.
