CHANDIGARH, May 28 — A 40-year-old man from Punjab has tested positive for the JN.1 variant of Covid-19 at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, making it the first confirmed case reported at a health facility in Chandigarh.
The patient is currently in isolation within the hospital’s designated Covid area. “The data has been entered in the required format. The patient has been isolated in the Covid area and two ventilators have been arranged there,” said Dr Ashok Atri, director of GMCH-32.
Dr Atri assured there is no immediate cause for concern. “There is no need to worry as of now,” he added.
Health officials are monitoring the situation closely.
