Chandigarh, March 31 — The Punjab government has released ₹80 lakh to NGOs for skill development programs aimed at making youth self-reliant, Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said.
She mentioned that the funds will support training in cutting-tailoring, fashion designing, computer skills, tele-training, and beauty therapy across various districts.
Of the total amount, ₹40 lakh has been approved for four NGOs in Sri Muktsar Sahib district for tailoring, fashion designing, and computer training projects. ₹10 lakh has been allocated to an NGO in Sangrur district for a tailoring course, while ₹30 lakh has been released to three NGOs in Bathinda district for similar programs.
“These initiatives will help youth become self-employed and earn their livelihood,” Dr. Kaur said, adding that the Punjab government remains committed to improving the living standards of its youth through such schemes.
