Chandigarh, March 18 — The Punjab government has ordered the transfer and posting of several IAS and PCS officers with immediate effect.
According to the notification issued by the Department of Personnel, IAS officer Himanshu Jain, currently serving as Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Roopnagar, has been transferred to Ludhiana as DC, replacing Jitendra Jorwal.
Varjeet Walia, who was Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Additional CEO of Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion, will take over as Roopnagar DC.
Nirmal Ouseppachan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Mansa, has been posted as Additional Secretary, Coordination, and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Secretary, replacing Simrandeep Singh.
Simrandeep Singh will now serve as Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Additional CEO of Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion, filling Walia’s position.
In another move, PCS officer Tarsem Chand, currently Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Samana, has been appointed Deputy Excise Commissioner (Excise & Distilleries) in Patiala, replacing Udaydeep Singh Sidhu.
The government has directed officers without new postings to report to the Secretary of Personnel. Authorities have been asked to make internal arrangements to handle vacant posts resulting from the reshuffle.
