Chandigarh, 06 November 2024: The ‘Punjab Vision 2047’ conference will be held on November 12 and 13 at Punjab University, Chandigarh, organized by the Vishwa Punjabi Organization in collaboration with the Punjab Development Commission and Punjab University.
According to inputs, the two-day event aims to bring together government leaders, parliamentarians, policy makers, and experts to outline a strategic vision for Punjab’s growth through 2047.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will inaugurate the conference, which will be presided over by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.
Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni, the organizer of the event and Member of Parliament, noted the importance of the conference, stating, “Punjab stands at a crossroad, and this conference will serve as a platform to formulate a practical strategy for the progress of our state. Key themes include governance reform, agricultural transformation, economic revival, industrial development, and environmental sustainability.”
The inaugural session will feature participation from MP Raghav Chadha, along with Dr. Sahni, who will guide discussions. On the first day, topics such as administrative challenges, agricultural reforms, and industrial development will be addressed by Cabinet Ministers including Dr. Balbir Singh, Baljit Kaur, and Gurmeet Singh Khudian, along with senior government officials such as Chief Secretary K. Sinha and DGP Gaurav Yadav. Social activists and industrialists, including Amrit Sagar Mittal, Rajinder Gupta, and Davinder Sharma, will also contribute to the discussions.
The second day will focus on tackling Punjab’s fiscal crisis and environmental concerns. Cabinet Ministers like Harpal Singh Cheema, Harjot Singh Bains, and Aman Arora, alongside MPs Sandeep Pathak and Balbir Singh Seechewal, will lead various sessions addressing these crucial issues.
Dr. Sahni concluded, “Our goal is to unite stakeholders to create an inclusive and prosperous vision for Punjab. The inputs from this conclave will be important in setting the forward agenda for the state.” Following the conference, a white paper will be issued, containing proposed solutions to the challenges facing Punjab today.
