New Delhi, 19 November 2024: Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India next year as part of a reciprocal arrangement for annual leader-level visits between the two nations, diplomatic sources revealed on Tuesday. While discussions are ongoing, no final decision has been reached, according to the sources.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended an invitation to Putin during their talks in Moscow this July. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, addressing senior Indian editors in a video interaction organized by Russia’s state-run Sputnik news agency, confirmed that a visit is “on the cards” but refrained from announcing specific dates.
“The dates will be mutually worked out soon. We are looking forward to the visit,” Peskov stated, highlighting the robust ties between India and Russia.
The visit would follow Modi’s recent trip to Kazan, Russia, where he attended the BRICS summit. Both nations continue to emphasize their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with high-level exchanges playing a key role in maintaining momentum.
