Chandigarh, Sept 7: For the first time, defaulters in National Lok Adalats will be able to pay challans using QR codes, as the district courts gear up for the upcoming sessions on September 13.
A court official explained that QR codes will be installed at the Lok Adalat venues, allowing individuals to scan them and submit fines online. “This initiative is aimed at making the payment process more convenient and reducing long queues during Lok Adalats,” the official noted.
The move follows the successful settlement of 1,321 challan-related cases during the Special Lok Adalat held from September 1 to 6. “The introduction of QR code-based payments reflects our commitment to embracing technology and ensuring smoother proceedings,” the official added.
During the September 13 National Lok Adalat, attendees can scan the codes and fill in the necessary challan details to complete payments instantly. The courts hope that this digital facility will encourage more defaulters to settle their fines promptly.
By integrating QR code technology, Chandigarh district courts are taking a step toward modernizing legal procedures and providing a faster, more efficient experience for litigants. “We believe that this initiative will streamline payments and enhance overall efficiency,” the official said.
The district judiciary’s adoption of QR codes marks a significant shift in procedural handling, aiming to simplify interactions for citizens while maintaining accountability and record accuracy.
