Amritsar, Feb 15: The management of Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB) has reportedly introduced a comprehensive ban on photography and videography during VIP movements at its Amritsar headquarters. The decision is aimed at preserving the spiritual atmosphere of the Dera and reinforcing the principle that all followers are equal, regardless of their social or political standing.
While an official statement is yet to be released, the new directive includes a verbal message to visitors and staff that no special treatment will be accorded to high-profile guests. The management has requested that devotees and visitors refrain from taking photographs with the sect head or sharing such images on social media platforms.
“This decision was taken to spread a message that all are equal and no special treatment would be given to anyone visiting the sect head,” stated a ‘sewadar’ at the Dera, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The source noted that the circulation of images often vitiates the quiet, meditative environment that the Dera seeks to maintain.
The move follows several instances where photographs of the Dera head with prominent political figures were widely circulated on digital platforms, sometimes leading to public speculation. Although mobile phones are already restricted inside the premises, the new measures seek to further curb the unauthorized dissemination of motivational talks and satsang activities on YouTube and other social media channels.
