NEW DELHI, May 25— In the wake of recent India-Pakistan border tensions, Ramlila committees across Delhi-NCR are taking a patriotic turn this year by incorporating tributes to the Indian Armed Forces into their Dussehra celebrations.

The initiative was finalized during a special meeting on Friday by Shri Ramlila Mahasangh, a federation representing around 850 Ramlila committees in the Capital. The meeting, which saw the participation of over 200 major committees, led to a unanimous decision to honor soldiers through stage performances, thematic tableaux, and documentary screenings.

“All of us agreed that this year, we must bring the bravery of our forces—especially what we witnessed during Operation Sindoor—onto the Ramlila stage,” said Arjun Kumar, president of Lav Kush Ramlila and Shri Ramlila Mahasangh. “We have sent out instructions to either present a tableau depicting the Army’s courage or screen a 15–20-minute film we will provide. Some committees will also stage short plays dedicated to the military.”

This year, Ramlila performances will run for 12 days, one day more than usual, from September 22 to October 3, culminating with Dussehra on October 2.

“By then, enough time will have passed, and it becomes even more important that we remind people of the sacrifices made by our soldiers,” said Mahender Nagpal, president of the Ashok Vihar Ramlila Committee. “Just like the Tiranga Yatra was recently held in their honor, this is our way of ensuring their efforts remain etched in public memory.”

Nagpal added, “When this message is projected from the Ramlila stage, it will truly reach the hearts of the people. India wants peace, but it stands ready to defend its dignity when threatened.”
