BATHINDA, June 24: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that the comprehensive rejuvenation of the state’s villages remains the essential foundation for making Punjab the nation’s leading state. Speaking at a ‘Sarpanch Milni’ with rural representatives from Rampura Phul and Talwandi Sabo on Tuesday, the Chief Minister affirmed that the state government maintains an unwavering commitment to rural growth and will ensure that development initiatives face no shortage of financial resources. He urged the local leaders to manage public funds impartially to benefit all segments of rural society, while giving utmost priority to foundational infrastructure like schools, libraries, and solar lighting.

The Chief Minister asserted that the administration frames welfare policies, but the actual implementation relies heavily on the dedication of local panchayats. He stated that the local leaders serve as a vital link between the administration and the rural population, describing them as the true eyes and ears of the government. To ensure that progress remains unhindered, he called upon the representatives to rise above local factions and manage village affairs with absolute neutrality.

“A Sarpanch is the head of the village and a good Sarpanch can give a facelift to the village and ensure the prosperity of its people. As a matter of fact, Sarpanches are the foundation on which the pillar of democracy stands due to which they are the most important part of society,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann added.

The interaction also focused significantly on the active participation of women in governance, with the Chief Minister encouraging women panchayat leaders to expand their horizons. He noted that while girls have consistently outshone boys in various academic and professional arenas, their active involvement in leadership roles is vital to building an egalitarian society.

“During the meeting with Sarpanches and Panchs from Rampura Phul and Talwandi Sabo, discussions were held on the achievements of the Punjab Government. Everyone welcomed the government’s efforts to provide jobs purely on merit and improve the quality of education,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated.
