CHANDIGARH, June 24: The recent interception of a significant weapons cache near the international border has brought the enforcement of boundary security under intensive review. Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated during a press briefing on Tuesday that a joint operation by the Border Security Force and the State Special Operations Cell resulted in the apprehension of an individual near Ajnala. The recovered inventory included an AK-47 rifle, a bulletproof vest, twenty-five pistols, and numerous cartridges, linked to a relative of a local political functionary.
The spokesperson asserted that investigate reports indicate the individual maintained communications with an overseas contact to facilitate multiple previous consignments. Dhaliwal raised inquiries directed toward the Union Home Ministry regarding how substantial quantities of contraband manage to penetrate zones under federal border jurisdiction. He maintained that despite multiple administrative communications requesting modern anti-drone technology for the state’s 532-kilometer international border, central financial assistance has not been forthcoming for this specific requirement.
“CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has written several letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has held meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting that the BSF be equipped with modern anti-drone systems to secure Punjab’s 532-kilometre-long international border,” Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal affirmed.
The state leadership declared that the administration had to allocate ₹52 crore from provincial resources to deploy three anti-drone mechanisms to assist security forces. The ruling party maintained that the general populace remains vigilant against any external attempts to disturb local peace, reiterating that developmental and social harmony will be preserved under the current governance.
