Sagar Preet Hooda takes charge as Chandigarh DGP

CHANDIGARH, July 23 — A week after his appointment, Dr Sagar Preet Hooda on Wednesday formally assumed charge as the Director General of Chandigarh Police.

A 1997-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, Hooda is an alumnus of Panjab University and had earlier served in the city as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) shortly after joining the force in August 1997.

Hailing from Haryana, Hooda was appointed to the top post on July 15, marking a return to the city where his policing career began.
