Assam/Chandigarh, 14 October, 2024: Haryana Chief Minister-designate Nayab Singh Saini offered prayers at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on Monday, expressing gratitude for the chance to seek blessings for Haryana’s future.
Accompanied by his wife, Suman, Saini shared his hopes for the state’s continued development, emphasising the BJP’s commitment to supporting the poor, farmers, women, and youth.
Saini mentioned the progress Haryana has made over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and vowed to accelerate this growth, noting that the party has new resolutions for the upcoming term. He is scheduled to be sworn in as chief minister on October 17 at a ceremony in Panchkula, where Prime Minister Modi, senior BJP leaders, and NDA state chief ministers will be present.
Within the party, there is strong backing for Saini’s leadership, with both Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah endorsing him as the candidate during recent rallies. However, discussions about the deputy chief minister role are ongoing, as the party considers introducing new faces after eight of the previous 10 ministers lost their seats. Shruti Chaudhary, the granddaughter of Bansi Lal, is expected to join the new cabinet.
With 48 seats in the 90-member assembly, the BJP is set to form its third consecutive government in Haryana, supported by three independent MLAs: Devender Kadyan, Rajesh Joon, and Savitri Jindal.
