SANGRUR, Dec 21— Sangrur police intensified their anti-drug campaign Sunday, registering seven cases and arresting eight people during special cordon-and-search operations across the district, officials said.

Police recovered 12 grams of heroin and 24 bottles of liquor during the operations, carried out under the supervision of SP (Punjab Bureau of Investigation) Navreet Singh Virk, SP (Detective) Davinder Attri and SP (Headquarters) Rajesh Chhibber, said SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal.

“As part of the Punjab government’s ‘War Against Drugs,’ we are taking stringent action against drug traffickers and dismantling illegal structures linked to the trade,” Chahal said. “No one involved in this trade will be spared.”

Chahal also urged youth struggling with substance abuse to seek help. “Government-run de-addiction and rehabilitation centres are operational across the district to support recovery,” he said, adding that traffickers have pushed many young people toward destruction.

The district police said the campaign will continue relentlessly, with special operations planned to curb drug supply and safeguard the younger generation.
